Fast wifi in kuta lombok

When I was traveling 10 years ago, internet was a luxury. Nowadays, internet is everywhere. Well, this is actually only the case if you are okay with having a 56k like connection.
The truth is when traveling in Asia – or anywhere else -, especially Parediseey places, having a good internet connection in paradise is also a luxury.

4G and soon 5G is a great help, it’s awesome ! However, this mobile connection is pretty unreliable and can be easily disrupted by rain, wind and concrete housing 😀

At SAME SAME, I made the choice of providing to all visitors and guests, the best possible Fast WiFi in Lombok. Was I successful in the setup?

Yes Yes and Yes

We have several modem setups, that either work as primary or secondary internet connection. All connected to a load balancing router and business grade access points. I will spare you the further details of the setup.

The result is that at SAME SAME we do have the fastest WiFi in Lombok. It’s actually triple the speed then the highest single fiber connection that you can get in Lombok.

349 Mbps on average, in Paradise, not bad, right !

The speeds are limited per device to ensure everyone get’s their fair share. So you will receive 7 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload speeds. To slow you say, well if that speed would have to be shared among multiple people and devices, hell yeah, then it is to slow.

10 Mbps download and 2 Mbps upload is the speeds on most modems in Lombok.

THOSE SPEEDS HAVE TO BE SHARED WITH EVERYONE CONNECTED TO IT !

You are always welcome to pass by and try to slow the internet down… But I did run a speed test with 10 devices downloading and uploading 10 Gigabyte of data… And all had 6.4 Mbps down and 3.8 upload.

So, fast WiFi in Kuta Lombok? Reality at SAME SAME.

THE BEST SUNSET SPOTS IN LOMBOK

Seger Viewpoint

sunset at seger

Great place to relax, enjoy a drink and enjoy the locals as well as tourists while watching spectacular sunsets. Just drive toward the Seger reef surf spot and climb up the hill on the right side for spectacular views.

The hills on the left side will give you a nice view over the MotoGP track and is a little more quiet.

Prabu Hill Sunset Point

When you drive toward the West, coming from Kuta there is a very nice valley view just before you decent towards Are Guling. If you arrive 20 minutes before sunset, you will not miss it !

The best spot to watch the sunset there is just before the bat caves.

Merese Hill

by wemovedabroad

Visiting Tanjung Aan beach and hiking Bukit Merese were two of our favorite activities in the week we spent in the south of Lombok! Watching the sunset over the coast and playing with the cute local puppies on the pristine white sands of Tanjung Aan make the perfect way to spend a day. As a bonus, the two are right next to each other and are easily accessible from Kuta!

WHAT TO EXPECT

Tanjung Aan is a huge beach, about 1km long. There are quite a few warungs where you can buy food or drinks and rent a beach chair or umbrella. Typically, these warungs will give you a beach chair for free if you buy something. There are also many locals selling bracelets and sarongs on the beach. Tanjung Aan is known to be one of the best beaches in all of Lombok, and was definitely one of our favorites! It does get a bit crowded in the middle of the day, but it’s big enough that you can find a secluded spot if you’re willing to walk further from the parking lot.

Bukit Merese is a short but epic hike to a hill that overlooks the Tanjung Aan bay and the next bay to the west. There’s a great view of the ocean and locals and tourists alike often head there for sunset.  It’s possible to buy snacks or beer in the parking lot, but beware of the aggressive monkeys who love stealing from unsuspecting tourists!

HOW TO GET TO BUKIT MERESE & TANJUNG AAN

Tanjung Aan beach is a quick 20 minute scooter ride from Kuta. We rented scooters at our homestay and cruised over at our leisure. The roads are quite good besides the last 5 minutes which is a smooth dirt road. If you’d rather not scooter, it’s also possible to organize a driver at one of the many tourist information booths in Kuta.

Check here for scooter rental.

The parking lot for Bukit Merese is right around the corner. You can walk over and avoid having to pay for parking again.

WHEN TO VISIT BUKIT MERESE & TANJUNG AAN

Bukit Merese is a pretty awesome view both during the day and at sunset! If you’re only going to visit once, we’d recommend heading to Tanjung Aan in the afternoon and making the trek to Bukit Merese an hour or so before sunset.

If you plan it right, you can surf Tanjung Aan and after that hike up the hill and enjoy sunset !

The hike up to the edge of the hill is not long (less than 5 minutes) but there’s a lot of coastline to explore. It can get crowded so it’s nice to get a little further from the entrance! The furthest point you can hike to takes about 20 minutes from the parking lot.

COST OF BUKIT MERESE & TANJUNG AAN

Parking at each location is 10k IDR for scooters, and there’s no entrance fee. Food starts around 30k IDR for fried rice/fried noodles and a cold coconut or beer will be 15-30k.

Bucket List: Stay in a Bamboo Bungalow in Lombok in a tropical Lush Garden

When staying at SAME SAME, you will wake up in the morning, open your doors and feel nature come drifting in. That is the first thing you notice from staying in a bamboo bungalow in Lombok

Tension is who you think you should be. Relaxation is who you are.

Don’t expect a room that Paris Hilton would stay in. Our accommodations are made so that you get to be one with nature and feel everything alive around you. You will feel at home and easily make contact with like minded travelers. Our rooms are basic and cozy. Since I’ve traveled a fair bit already, I tried to create an environment in harmony with what Lombok is about

Our gardens

Many people praise us for having amazing gardens, even though the praise is not our motivation for creating a piece of nature in town. We’ve made the choice of not cutting down any trees and instead planting over 700 plants and flowers. A part of our fruits and vegetables are homegrown as well. So when you order a fresh juice or a coconut, it might just be that one of our staff picks your fruit right off the tree for you!

Gardening is cheaper then therapy. And you get tomatoes.

Digital Nomad Café in Kuta Lombok: Get work done / Enjoy relaxed vibes

Our digital nomad cafe is a place where many people from different nationalities feel at home immediately. As with our accommodation, Bungalows, I designed it like a place that I would love to visit on my travels. There is always a friendly vibe. Some nice tunes on the background. Great seating to work and to relax.
Of course, being from Belgium… I love FOOD, good home cooked meals, according grandma’s recipe. That is probably also the reason that our restaurant menu is slightly different then anywhere in ( Kuta ) Lombok.

Our concept is to be unique, relaxed, friendly and natural.

We used all sustainable and natural materials and relaxing colors. This gives the perfect blend with the surrounding garden.

Of course with the growing need to be online, we made sure that we have THE best WiFi in Lombok. You will find that you get things done online with easy, that you will come back.
